Drop Downs Stuck in Word for Mac

The drop-down menus (except Fonts) in Word 2001 have stopped responding on my Mac Powerbook G4 OS 9.1. All other programs function OK. Have removed and re-loaded Office suite but still no luck!

Anyone come across this problem before?
