Duplicate (POP)email in outlook 2002

A network user is getting duplicate email in outlook2002 with LEAVE ON SERVER enabled. The user gets the same email for days….randomly. I heard that there is a corrupted file that is supposed to keep track of downloaded messages. Any fix for this????
