Hi
My machine runs Win98 and has Easy CD creator v. 4.01 installed. The writable drive is a Yahama CRW4261t, and has been installed in the machine for about three years.
Recently, I began to have problems recording data onto CDs. This began a few weeks ago. I can read and open files from the drive via My Computer and can open files on CDs from within applications with no problem.
I suspected the Easy Cd.. needed reinstalling. I uninstalled, then reinstalled. When I opened a saved CD layout and clicked the Create CD icon on the toolbar after reinstalling, an error message poped up: There are no supported CD recorders available.
I checked Device Manager and discovered that although the device was reported as working, the model number was not correct. This must have changed after upgrading my system to Win95. Searching for a Win98 driver for this device has been unsuccessfull, and it seems likely that the model specified in DM (CRW842E) is a “best fit”.
Next I went to Roxio’s site and have downloaded the updates which upgrade v4.01 to 4.02 and v4.02 to 4.05. When I try to run the first of these (updating 4.01 to 4.02), I receive an error message: Old file does not exist. I have searched Roxio’s site for information onthese error messages but can’t find anything.
Has anyone had the same or similar problem? Any help will be very much appreciated.
