Emulation options in Database

I have a client that had an inventory tracking program written in some sort of database runnoin on Windows 98. They just moved up to a Windows XP platform and the database doesn’t work. It does seem to have a batch file with a TERM= statement in it. What emulation can we use to get the program to display properly?
