Error 1706 – Office 2000 SR-1

I am running XP Pro. I have read lots of the same exact type of problems with 2000 Pro. I open Internet Explorer, and I get a “Windows is Preparing to Install…”. I have to click Cancel three times for it to stop popping up. I have checked Registry, and seems to be ok (but please still post). I try to insert the CD, but will not even spin it to look for the files needed. Suggesstions???????
