Excel 2002 /2000 convert Value to Range-of-cells

need support for Excel 2000 or Excel 2002 to convert cell range
from data in Cell.
i.e cell A5 have data E10:E35
How can I use this info in SUM function?

=SUM(A5) does not work
=SUM(TEXT(A5),””) does not work

evaluate error shows =SUM(“E10:E35″,””) but does not do the sum?
