Excel 97 odd behaviour running on XP.

Excel opens but not the spreedsheet. Unable to cut & paste from Excel to Word. Theu’re able to create new spreadsheets from the “File menu”

There is only one machine running Excel 97 on XP, the rest are running on WIN98. The WIN98 boxes don’t have a problem. They have other machines running Office XP on XP pro.

I have asked the customer to install the SR-1 & SR-2 office patches which he had not done. Has anyone experienced of know of this happening anywhere?
