EXCEL – AGE RANGE MATCHING

Can anyone tell me how I can use the COUNTIF (or similar function) to count the number of cells that fall within a number range (i.e. AGE RANGE) e.g. >=4 AND <=16. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks for your help in advance.
