Excel and Checkpoint VPN

When Checkpoint VPN is running some Excel spreadsheets freeze or functions like bolding, underlining, etc don’t function. Turn off checkpoint and the spreadsheets run with no problem. M/S and Checkpoint deny any culpability. Suggestions?
