Adding a column to the Pivot table that is not in the main data table and that each cell within that column undertakes a mathematical function e.g. add, divide etc.
Say I ahev worksheet set up as a data table and I then create a reprot using the Pivot Tabel function. However I tehn need to undertake another calculation derrived from the Pivot Table in another column, where each cell can be used to divide multiply etc.
I have tried just adding a column next to the Pivot table, where each cells undertakes a calculation. The problem is, that as soon as the Pivot table is updated or data changes the created column does not update with it, in fact the whole thing is out of sync. The only way I have overcome this problem – which is not the most efficent way, was to create another column/columns in the data table which then undetakes the required calculation, create another pivot table next to the first one – with the same criteria, with just the new two columns. The problem with this is, that it creates a memory hungry file and that if the first Pivot table is updated, one must not forget to update the second table.
Is there a simpler solution?
