Excel row comparision

by rdoucette . Updated 21 years, 6 months ago

Can the following be done with a macro or some other way in Excel 2003 ?

I have looked at comparision utilities but most of them add and delete rows which I do not want.

Compare rows in two spreadsheets in seperate workbooks

Highlight the row in the second workbook spreadsheet if there are any differences from the same row in the first workbook spreadsheet

Loop through the remainder of each workbook\worksheet doing the same calculation between the remaining rows

Remove any set of rows ( workbook1\sheet1 and workbook2\sheet2 )that match exactly

Maintain the original row numbers for the rows in each workbook\spreadsheet that shows differences.

I attempted to use conditional formatting but it can only be used with cells within the same workbook.

If it is possible to just get the different rows highlighted in red and not be able to delete matched rows and maintain the original row numbers for the mismatched rows that would be acceptable.

Sincerely,

Rick Doucette
