Excel Trimming Down

Hi All,

I am trying to use the Function TRIM in Excel 97. There are some blank cells that I need to get rid of, but am experiencing major difficulty in doing so.

Has anyone used this function and is able to better help me understand what I amdoing wrong. What I do is highlight the Spreadsheet and choose the function TRIM, but it continues to give me this return of VALUE instead of removing the blank spaces. HELP ME PLEASE !!!
