Excell 2000

Windows XP Pro crashed and resulted in my having to reinstall everything. Since doing this I am no longer able to access 10 out of 28 worksheet files that was stored on my D drive. The error message I get is as follows:

Cannot access read only xxxxx.xls
cannot access xxxxx.xls

When I go to properties for the files, it does not show the read only attribute set.

Is there anyway to recover these files?
