exchange 2000 on sbs2003

Can some one explain to me how the bad mail directory works in the above? I seem to be collecting a lot of bad mail from both rogue addresses and legitimate ones. Some of the legitimate ones do get posted but stay in the bad mail directory. We ahd our exchange hijacked a while ago but hat is sorted now. Any clues on the operation of this folder or pointers to URLs would be appreciated
