Exchange 2000 Service Packs

Everytime I go to deploy a service pack on my exchange server 2000 everything goes to hell!
Service pack 2 = Mailbox database becomes corrupt and unmounted and cannot remount or restore. 3 times tried to deploy service pack 2.
Service pack 1 = Thefourth executable will freeze the OS anytime it is accessed. tried to deploy service pack 1 3 times. I running a dell poweredge 4400 and exchange 2000 not enterprise edition. Anyone have any tips or ideas?
