Explorer problem in two .dll files

I am running Me with 2K Office Prof added; recent updates for both have been downloaded. These two intermittent error messages have me stumped:

Explorer has caused a problem in
Kernel32.dll

Explorer has caused a problem in
MSVBVM60.DLL

Closing either of these error messages closes Internet Explorer. Restarting my computer, nor any one of countless other fixes I’ve tried, has helped. I’m an on-line college student and I’m getting desperate.
