File Tracking

by bprevost . Updated 23 years, 8 months ago

I am looking for a software package that will track files sent through our
server to another server (mapped drive). It must do one of the following:

Allow me to track a file from a workstation to the remote mapped drive and produce time and date stamps.

or

Monitor all files sent and produce a report with time and date stamps.

To help simplify, here is the problem. We have 8 workstations where the employees will send a file from their workstation (on their domain), through ourserver(Windows98), to a (mapped) shared drive, (on their domain). We are losing from one
to four files per month in the transfer. After it arrives at their server it is then translated and transferred to another of their servers. From what I have been able to determine from their input, it seems to be getting lost after reaching their first server, but I need to track the file to that server to verify.
It may sound complicated, but basically I need a software that produces a time and date stamp for the workstation send and the remote server,(mapped
drive) receive.

Any help on this would be greatly appreciated. After researching this for over a week, Ihave found only one software packafge that may work. Unfortunately, it starts at $10k, not really cost effective, if you know what I mean.

Thank you,
