firefox problem

after clicking yes to a firefox online important security update, firefox 1.07 downloaded and installed; subsequently firefox will not open, will not allow windows to uninstall it, firefox uninstall.exe will not open, and it seems to be stopping win xp pro from returning to a previous restore point.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
