Im standing in for support of a large organisation and i have the duty to work with the ISP to look into ways of protecting my client from Worms/Viruses.
Now the setup was done with one router connecting the whole building..no server..to the internet
Most of the users..about 150..have unresticted access and the outcome of new viruses is killing the bandwidth in no time. The downtime is unacceptable with thr mamagement as they are running sattelite car tracking using the internet 24/7
Most of the uses are not familiar with protection procedures..even trival anti-virus updates cannot be done.
What, i might ask, is the best way forward?
I have thought of firewalls…but again at what level, user level or router level? software based or hardware based? which are the best in the market?
Is a server required?
Obviously security was not an issue from the word go and they intend to keep it that way..I dont know why.
