Firewire Install Error

Have tried to install several different IEEE 1394 cards on Dell Dimension 8200,XP pro. Tried different slots, updated BIOS to A09 as suggested from Belkin tech support-same result-recognizes card, continues through install then at the end error-driver not supported by this platform. Please help. I apologize if this has been previously addressed.
