getting rid of IM

I do not use Instant messaging and do not want it on my PC. I am running XP Pro and would like to remove Windows Messaging from my system. Add/Romove Programs does not have it isted unless I download the latest version, Than I only remove the version I installed. How do I get rid of Win. Mess. for good? Is there a Registry Hack that will shut it off for good?
