Help for drop down menu

Not sure how this happened but, in some instances when I attempt to open files, documents etc, I am directed to the Search feature instead of the Open feature, I have to right click and select open from the drop down list, Can I get back to Open as the default option? (Does this make any sense? Sorry if it doesn’t)
