Highlight Changes in an Excel 2000 Workb

by bill . Updated 24 years, 1 month ago

I receive an Excel 2000 Workbook each week from a vendor with 7-10 worksheets, printed about 50 pages. I would like to be able to quickly tell, perhaps by highlighting, what has changed, be it added or deleted rows, changes to amounts, etc. The columns always stay the same but each worksheet could have from one row filled out to many depending on the project.

The vendor is not currently willing to highlight these changes for me.

Do I need to be looking at a 3rd party compare program or does excel already have this capability.

My reason for wanting all this is I also use this vendor provided workbook as the source data to links in a worksheet of my own. When they delete a row my worksheet gets a #REF (I think it is), but I can’t tell when they added a row to their workbook. I want to know this so I can set up my links to the workbook.

And I would like to know which cells in my worksheet have changed that I am already linked to since the last update.
