how to configure ODBC on client side?

how to configure ODBC on the client side (Access)?

Configure client-server connectivity with the ODBC Data Source Administrator

Would someone please teach me:
use Access database as an example. If we want to use one Access database in a LAN, first need to configure on the server side (ODBC connection), then how to configure on the client side (after splitting)?
Normally we use “link Table Manager” to define the path. Do we have to share the database completely on the server side? What shall we do to guarantee the security (user management)?
