How to monitor Exchnage 2000 servers

We have 6 exchange servers in our organization. I want to monitor these servers for proper functioning of our mailing system. Our main is Aim is if somhow we can sense the problem beforehand.

Can any one suggest me what parameters should we monitor and what should be the baseline.
