ICS Lists Same NIC Twice

Internet connection sharing was running fine on my Windows ME PC, but after I changed my Cable modem, ICS added a second instance of the 3COM NIC used for the home network side of the sharing. The connection to the Cable Modem works fine on the ME machine, but other computers on the LAN cannot be seen or see the host system any more. Removing the 3COM NIC, uninstalling and reinstalling ICS, removing the NIC entry in Device Manager all have failed to eliminate the double entry. I am up to date on ME patches, am virus free, have a 900 MHz Dell running the ICS, green lights on the Local side NIC and the hub, and am stumped!
