IE 6 fails – dns error or page not found

I am runing windows XP with IE6(sp2)and cannot use IE to surf the web. I invariably get the above messsage. I can use mozilla and netscape without a problem.

Can somebody point me to the registry entries that are causing this problem. I am interested to know why.
