IE7 will not install even with MS tech support

I tried to install IE7 on my PC:

WINXP SP2
Intel dual core @ 2.8 ghz
1GIG RAM

After several attempts the install would not complete. I called MS Tech Support & after several attempts they could not help.The Technician said they”are able to solve 80% of install problems”

I was not pre[pared to spend more time om=n this problem & am still not able to install the update.

MS called back & wanted me to try other approaches but I declined. They said a patch would be out in about 2 weeks.
