importing address book

Someone show me my glaring error. I installed a new hard drive and installed XP Pro + XP Office Pro and configured the old drive as the slave in order to transfer my old files. When I try to import my address book from OE ver6 on the old drive to either Outlook or OE on the new installation, nothing is actually transferred. If I save the address book to a zip drive,I can open it no problem but when I browse for it during the import process, Windows cannot find it – although it is looking for anaddress book file.
