Install Problem

Trying to reinstall Office 2000 to a different directory to the auto suggested, it installed in the correct place but also in the auto suggested drive. Three times I tried to install only in alternative location with the same result. I deleted the “extra” install with, so far, no detrimental effects. Why did this happen?
