Internet Browser keeps closong

I have a problem with my browser. Both Explorer and Netscape. I believe it has something to do with Java but I can’t figure out what to do. Every time I open a web page that has Java ( again I think it’s java ) the browser just closes itself. I believe it’s java because it doesn’t do it with all web pages. I have been battling with this for months and am ready to reformat but I would like to figure it out for future reference.
