Internet explorer DNS error

I have a pc running win98se and have just set up its internet connection. When I click on the explorer icon DUN automatically connects then the then I am prompted for the network password even though I enter it I cannot view any web pages or collectmy email.
I have set the primary logon as the network password but on reboot it doesn’t prompt me to enter any PW. with the PC connected to a small ptop network I cannot see any other clients untill i connect to the internet as above.
Are these two related and does anyone know how to resolve these issues?
