Internet Explorer Problem!!!

Honestly I feel stupid asking this question, but I can’t find anyone who has had this happen to them… When I’m in Internet Explorer, and I want to open another Explorer window, it automatically closes my first window and I’m unable to get back to where I was in the first window. I’ve scanned for spyware, but to no avail. Does anyone know what’s wrong?
