I am experiencing a recurring problem with Windows 2000 Access; “invalid argument”. I went to Technet at Microsoft.com and was told that the error would be resolve by loading SR1a. I found that not to be successful, eventhough the problem was exactly what they described at their site. Background… this table is mainly for reports whereby, it is linked to a databased Access table, where in turn is refreshed nightly via a Unix box (oracle 7.34 ver 2.5 ODBC driver). I had this working properly until my hard drive filled up unexpectantly. I had to clean up the drive to allow for the tables. After I moved some files and uninstalled Microsoft Office and reinstalled it to a different drive, I started to get the error. The peculiar part isthat everything functions well locally. The reports, refresh and linkage perform nicely. But when I try to link to the Report tables, I recieve the menu or the initial report screen, but when i initiate a query, I start to get the “Invalid Argument”. A few times I recieved a network or disc error. I checked all the permissions and access rights… they are correct. I also viewed the properties and unchecked the read only options to the tables. Just the archive is checked. The share naming convention is correct, which really doesnt matter with Win2000 stand alone desktops. I also installed the SP2 for Office 2000, as well as SR1a.
