ISP`s setting in outlook 2000

I`m running Windows 2000 professional and whenever i check my mail in Outlook2000, i have to keep adjusting my isp`s setting mail setting, this is all temporarily because as soon as i log off or switch the computer back on i have to readjust the settings to check my mail.
Any help on this subject would be appreciated.
