I need to know how to force a copy of email to be kept on the POP3 server.
I’m working out of two different offices, who happen to share the same POP3 – let’s call it mail.POP3.com – via a local ISP.
Now, Exchange 2000 in both offices, going out and retrieving emails and delivering them to the users, no problem. We have Outlook 2000/2002 set up for these users as C/W.
However, I have users that travel, and need to be able to access their email from on the road, or from home, simply to be able to pick up their email when they’re home sick with the flu, snowbound, etc., via the Internet.
We have the ability to actually log on to mail.POP3.com and check our mail there – However – when doing so, more often than not, the inbox shows empty. Occaisionally, a user might get lucky and see one message in the inbox, click it, read it, close, and then within less than a minute, it’s been collected and sent on its way via the Exchange server.
I’ve tried going through Exchange configuration settings. I’ve looked in Outlook – the option to leave a copy of the email on the server is only valid for POP3 email accounts, not the Exchange server email account.
I need to know how to keep copies of emails on that POP3 server for my users to access. Is it something set up through Exchange, Outlook, or on the POP3 end??
