Microsoft Office won’t load

Trying to load on Office 2000 to Win2000 machine. Get error message after install complete that the install was not recognized and exits the installation as incomplete. I’m not sure of the actual message. Unable to load separate Publisher disk aswell. “No record of the installation can be found anywhere on the machine. Any suggestions?
