Missing Tables in Access

When we create a Access db, we are able to create the tables, do the validation etc and enter data. After it has been saved on a network drive, when we reopen it, only the file name appears and all tables and data has disappeared. We have checked the local drive on the machine and the db was not saved there. Any ideas on where the missing tables could have gone?
