MS Access – Automate Records

I am currently working on a mailing management database and have a problem with it. There are going to be about 1,000 records imported into it but they need a date of import added into a field in the table the same time we pull the records into it. It will be using an Excel spreadsheet and then imported, how can I automate the entry of the date into these records without having to manually enter it into each one?
