MS Access IIF statement

I am trying to automatically populate the field “updated on” (using the iif statement)in a database with the current date when the field “completion date” is manually populated. I run daily engineering reports on items that were completed the day before but the Operations team is not always punctual in updating the “completion date” in the database causing late items to be missed on the reports.
