MS Access mdw file

I have a database with an MSAccess front-end, SQL server back-end that is secured using MSAccess security. I have had a problem recently where the mdw file is growing and getting corrupted almost weekly. This has only started in the last couple weeks.
What can cause this and how can I solve this problem?
