MS Access Password Nightmare

Nothing like bombs like this that land in your lap late on a Friday during the summer…

We’re creaing a new customer service system for a client using VB & SQL Server to replace what they’ve been using that was written in Access 2000. The nightmare is we can’t get into the existing Access MDB to convert the data because no one knows what the password is to open it, and the guy who wrote it is nowhere to be found. Naturally, the client can’t find any of the design docs or other notes on the old system, and none of the people who were there when it was created are around now either.

They’ve tried the products mentioned in the newsgroups but none of them worked.

Has anyone managed to create their own extractor for an Access 2000 MDB file? If so, please contact me. Thanks.
