MS Word Picture Behind Text Problem

I’m using Word 2000. When I put a picture behind text on my letterhead, it works fine UNTIL I decide to put page numbers in the document. Once I insert page numbers (say, on a 3 page report on my letterhead), the picture sits on TOP of the text regardless of what formatting I choose for the picture. When I check the objec/picture formatting, it has “Behind Text Checked,” etc. …it’s all as it should be. But once page numbers are added it prints on top of the text, obliterating most of my letterhead.

I am refraining from saying anything about Mr. Gates in this posting, mind you.
