While trying to run down some performance issues in our SQL2000 data warehouse, I ran MS’s Best Practice Analyzer which pointed out that my OLAP repository was: 1)located on the master partition, 2)located on the same drive as it’s log (shouldn’t matter?) and 3)is contained in a single data file. Perfmon shows a maxing out of disk IO when I rebuild a cube.
Would it help to spread the OLAPRepository across multiple files on multiple disks? Or is the repository a different animal that needs to stay where and how it is?
