Multiple Wireless Network Conflicts

by 135boom . Updated 23 years, 7 months ago

I am installed the 802.11g wireless and have multiple machines using Win XP. Unfortunately a neighboring group using 802.11b has an access point within range of a few computers. Call it close quarters between group. Unfortunately with XP, the wireless receiver picks up both access points and at random decides to kick users off of one network and then give them the option to join either. I have set up the my system to ignore the 802.11b and has set up the appropriate encryption, but I cannot stop XP from tripping people off of the network at random. I have spoken with Linksys tech support and they have no idea how to stop the switching. Given that this issue will be growing in the immediate future with other wireless groups going up around me, how can I force XP just to see my network and ignore the rest?
