Nescape Inbox file recovery

Scenario: A) I renamed my Inbox file (not the Inbox.snm file) as a .txt file. In doing so I lost access to mail attachments. B) I then tried to rename the inbox.txt file back to “inbox.” and use it again in Netscape. File now is empty.
Q: Is there any way to recover the mail messages and attachment info?
