No Audio in Windows Media Player 9

Windows Media Player 9 will not play any audio
at all. It won’t play mp3, wav, Audio CD, or even the sound from video files. However, I can play all of these things in other programs. I have tried reinstalling wmp more than once. The problem has stayed the same. What can I do?
