Not Receiving emails

thanks in advance for your help,i have problems receiving emails, some emails are received while others are not. could anyone knows what is the problem, is it ralated to routing protocols, DNS, Smtp.
I use broadband conenction through ISP. my mail server is hosted on a dedicated server on the US.
