office 2000 shuts down after opening up

After installing office 2000 on my new computer (AMD 1900 with onboard sound and video)I went to updates to download the updates and after downloading sr1a every time I go to open up any of the components they open up and stay open for about 10 secsthen they close down again. If I uninstall office then reload it and don’t download the updates it seems to work fine.
