Office 2002 Access Mail Merge problem

Just upgraded from Office 97 to Office 2002. Using Access 2002 converted from Access 97. Now have mail merge problem within Access. Took 10 seconds before now it takes 2 min. to see merged document. RAM is 512, before was 64. Everything else works fine. Any suggestions? Any service packs that address similar problems?
